6 Day North Island Itinerary

Auckland - Hamilton- New Plymouth - Mt Ruapehu - Rotorua - Tauranga - Auckland

Day 1

Auckland - Hamilton

Begin in Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, situated between two enormous harbour's, enjoy marine adventures, wine trails and forest walks.

Day 2

Hamilton - New Plymouth

Hamilton has all the energy of a bustling city, but with a relaxed, easy living atmosphere. Situated at the heart of Waikato, Hamilton is home to spectacular gardens, lakes, walkways and golf courses and provides the perfect environment for leisure.

  • Home to the V8 Supercars
  •  Hamilton Gardens

From cool cafes, art galleries, nightlife and shopping, through to hot pools, caving, bush walks and an ever changing calendar of high profile national and international event, Hamilton is a great place to stay. Travel on just under 3.5 hours to New Plymouth.

Day 3

New Plymouth - Mt Ruapehu

 New Plymouth has something for everyone, sun, sea, sand and snow and some of the best surfing in the country.

Some New Plymouth Highlights:

  • Pukekura Park
  • Todd Energy Aquatic Centre

Travel on around 3.5 hours to Mt Ruapehu, the home of New Zealand's largest ski field.

Day 4

Mt Ruapehu - Rotorua

Mt Ruapehu is home to the most natural skiing and snowboarding terrain in the country. Mt Ruapehu offers something for everyone as a popular summer holiday getaway, offering a wide variety of outdoor sports & adventure activities.

Travel on 3 hours to Rotorua.

Day 5

Rotorua - Tauranga

The city of Rotorua is best known for its traditional Maori Culture and geothermal activity, this holiday destination is vibrant all year round.

Rotorua is a great place to base yourself for day trip around the central North Island, before you go make sure you experience some Maori culture with an evening at the Mitai, this will give you an authentic insight to our Maori culture. Drive just over 1 hour on to Tauranga

Day 6

Tauranga - Auckland

The charming town of Tauranga is located on the north-east coast of New Zealand, right in the heart of the Bay of Plenty. Tauranga has an excellent range of restaurants and cafes. Bay of Plenty offers the ultimate marine encounter, the opportunity to swim with, or just observe, dolphins in their natural environment.

Some Tauranga Highlights:
